ENTER THE ZOO
Pulsating postpunk dreampop noize from london
"“A force to be reckoned with. Their sound weaves indie, punk, and electro influences into something fierce, danceable, and entirely their own. Passionate, political, and unapologetically bold.”
— Hayley Foster Da Silva (Joyzine)

The Dead Zoo serve danceable, chaotic, post-punk noize, toting new tunes with debut full length album, Suspects, recorded with producer James Aparicio (Spiritualized / Depeche Mode).
The Dead Zoo brings crowds to their feet with post- punk verve, blistering guitar noise, and queer electro pop energy that draws comparisons to Talking Heads (and Tom Tom Club), Siouxsie and the Banshees and Sonic Youth, combined with the sass of UK indie rock of the 90s.
Having supported the likes of Bugeye, ARXX, Jemma Freeman and the Cosmic Something, CIEL, High-Vis, ALT BLK ERA, and Black Doldrums as well as packing out riotous headline shows at Walthamstow Trades and New River Studios, the Zoo have rapidly built a reputation as a formidable live force.
Front-woman and founder Kaoru Sato – formerly of Weird Sex (Roadkill Records), Electric Shocks (Artrocker Recordings), Dogviolet, and notorious transgender punks Six Inch Killaz – leads on vocals and guitar. She’s joined by co-vocalist, synth player and rhythm guitarist Somrata Sarkar (ex Ghost Patterns). Jon Baker-Bates (The Red Queens) powers percussion on drums and Seb Grey (Micky C And All the Sad Sad People), swaggers in on bass, keys and saxophone.
Fresh off sold out 2025 shows to launch Suspects at New River Studios and Camden Assembly in London, the band are primed to demand your attention again with their chaotic and high energy showmanship, in 2026 and beyond.

“The Dead Zoo harness all the post-punk verve, rousing guitar noise and queer dreamy energy that you could ever desire”
— Get in Her Ears
“Suspects is a stunning album - very apocalyptic but also very utopian at the same time. This is the kind of music I feel like I’m gonna hear when the world turns into Blade Runner, but it’s also the music I’m gonna hear when everything is beautiful again. I love all the emotions that I felt listening to this record over and over.”
— Josh Gaffin, The Afternoon Show, WTSQ 88.2FM
"A band that is standing on the threshold of true greatness”
